Race Last Pit Stop
The Great Race is Coming to East Lewis County! The East Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, with Cascade Peaks RV Resort and Cowlitz River Lodge, is presenting the Last Pit Stop of the national "Great Race" in 2005. The Great Race is the country's longest running and richest vintage automobile rally.
This exciting event will bring national attention to East Lewis County, and provide an opportunity for both regional and local businesses and organizations to get involved.
The competition is a controlled-speed, endurance road rally, not a top speed race. Racers compete for their share of a $250,000 prize purse. Racers come from all walks of life and will compete in four divisions: Grand Championship, Expert, Sportsman, and 10 high school student teams run in the X-Cup Division.
More than 40 cities host the Great Racers along the cross-country course with a celebrity-style welcome. Always free to the public, fans along the way enjoy an up-close and personal view of the vintage vehicles. Family-focused activities include parades, local car shows, and festivals.
Great Racers have logged more than 6,000,000 vintage vehicle miles in 22 years and have been the center of free family celebrations in more than 500 cities on the North American continent. More than 300,000 spectators attend Great Race stops each year to cheer for the adventurers in their marvelous machines. The total cash and prizes awarded to date exceed $4,000,000.

The East Lewis County Chamber of Commerce is now welcoming sponsors for this incredible event that will bring national exposure to east Lewis County, and provide an unforgettable community event for all.
Sponsors at the Great Race Last Pit Stop will pay a sponsorship fee to participate. They will be responsible for at least one pit stop station during the race. There are approximately 125 cars in the race, at approximately 35 pit stop stations. Promotion of businesses is allowed and pit crews can be represented by sponsors. Please contact director@eastlewiscountychamber.com for additional sponsor details and to indicate your interest in being a sponsor. Deadline for Sponsorship Agreements is May 31, 2005 (early bird specials through May 10).
We are also welcoming volunteers who would like to help organize community activities and entertainment on the Great Race Last Pit Stop Day and assist in logistics, publicity, and other needs.
